In flicker a tag cloud works by first putting you picture or video in a organized data bank which will allow others to find it based on it one of 75 tags that you can put on your upload to flicker the bigger the cloud the more objects in that cloud .

I went and evaluated some of the Mash Up sites and found it confusing for me. If you were to give me a site to upload pictures and share them I would be great at it. I found that http://flickrvision.com/ was interesting I would use it more for a screen saver than a place to view pictures.

One thing that I found very interesting about http://labs.systemone.at/retrievr was that you could draw any image you preferred in the designated box and the program would match your simple drawing to other drawings that might interest you, and relate to the drawing you had just drawn. It doesn’t always have to be the same image it can be a picture that relates to the drawn picture by the colour, shade or shape.

Another site I visited was http://randomchaos.com/games/fastr/en/ what I found about this site was that some people have lots of time on their hands in order to play this matching game it not only is challenging in some aspects but requires lots of time to play

Wow. These websites require not only time but brains the website: www.beckysweb.co.uk/sudoku/flickrsudoku.asp is the most complex game I have seen in a while. Not only is it Sudoku it involves pictures, which cause a complex illusion of images for your brain to absorb all at once. Therefore causing stress of the brain and challenges it that much more.
Google mashup
Since Google published its Maps, a number of applications, called mash-ups, have been developed that lay data on top of Google's map interface. It’s straight forward to center a map at a given location, add markers, and display content in info windows some mash-ups are more complicated than others buy adding more information of just where it is with a picture or a tag some even insert data from statistisics

This is one of the sites I found http://tour.regensburg.googlepages.com/regensburg.htm it is in another country you are to add your name and email as to why certain spots are important to you another site as the title say is a fishing spot where people have posted good and bad and even dangours spots to fish http://www.fishingaces.com/gdata.php/ this site even has a advertisment for a web page first I seen of this advertising on the site this site uses map over lay to connect you to web tv http://5tvs.com/internet-tv-maps/news/ unfortunatly it did not work on my mac

As the site above states this site is fun. I find it better than flicker …

Podcast and audio books

I personally did not like the podcast, I prefer to read or watch things, but it may have been the podcast I listened to there were sometimes 2 people talking at once and the other the music was almost as loud as the person talking. I may try listening to pod casing again at a later date but I don’t think that it is something that I would pursue in my free time unless it was the only source for the information. But from my experience at the university as see the way the “kids” can play online games talk on msn do facebook and still understand what is going on in lecture I guess it is a great fit to there learning. As far as this method of providing information better or worse depend on the target group you are after like I have stated the two podcast that I listed were to flashy or muddled with background noise where blogging gets to the point and can easily be scanned for the information I want out of the article not having to listen to get to the fine details of the issue that brought me to the site in the first place. The audio book is something that I am quite aware of my son who has a speech problem uses a tool called alpha smart, it scans his work and reads it back to him if he has spelled something wrong it will not pronounce it right which then makes him know that he has spelled something wrong. This idea of listening to books on line or buying them is simply one of the best ideas for people with visual and speech problems having a audio book will allow people to take them every where they go they can be brought with out having to carry heavy books around even doing this and able to listen to audio books you may not be able to get all the information out of the book due to your surrounding like background noise having to pay attention of where you are traveling ect.

Vodcasts
The vodcast I think I could get use to as long as I could find it easier data base to watch what I wanted to, although it was my very first attempt at vodcast I found it interesting but still think it has a long way to come to beat blogging or online newspapers, What may make them better is if they came with a tweet so you knew what you were about to watch. I will probably try it again but don’t think it will be something that I will desire to make a main stay of my internet activities I think YouTube has become popular due to the fact that before you watch you can read a little about what you are going to watch, I have found that the more the conversations about the video the more it is watched. Debate always makes something worth watching to see what side of the line you are on. YouTube also makes some TV obsolete such at America’s funniest video or other such programs they are all on the Internet

RSS Feeds teaches an old dog new tricks

RSS Feeds teaches an old dog new tricks. So far taking computer courses in University has taken up a lot of my time, with that said now having knowledge of RSS feeds has allowed me to keep reading the information I wish to read as well as the text books I don’t want to read . RSS feeds are simple to access and even add on your Google home page one of the easiest way is just by clicking on add a subscription on the top left side of your Google account page another easy way is to have Google toolbar and click on the orange RSS feed on the right hand side of tool bar it will then take you to the page you wish to subscribe to and then a simple box will appear that says "Subscribe to this feed in Google Reader" and yes it really is that simple The third way in which you are able to add an RSS feed to your Google Reader is to access your account page, choose Reader from the options on the screen, when you have entered your account reader page, click Subscription on the left hand side of the page and use the drop down menu to ADD a Subscription, enter in the link to the page you would like to view and as simple as that the process is complete.

This is such a simpler way to surf and access my favourite sites that I find I am using the Google Reader more and more watch day, before I became accustomed to entering my Google reader site I would be accessing multiple web sites and blogs each time I went online using my Favourites list in internet Explorer, which can be a very time consuming process since I am not able to access the internet via high-speed at my home, Dialup is painful on the best of days but when you compound the wait of using dialup access with the number of times I would access a page to find that no new information had been added, I found it could become very frustrating to surf the internet. Now that I have setup my favourite links to my Google Reader page, and it updates as these links are updated, I am saving hours of my time by just accessing the one page to get to the sites I frequent. This is leaving me more time to spend looking at new topics and finding new sites to view and study.

Blogging vs Twitter

All I can say is WOW.

This is my first attempt at blogging. While researching this project I found a number of interesting things. I have been a steady newspaper reader for quite some time, over 30 years. What I find most impressive about blogs is the speed in which information can be found on the Internet. Many of the blog sites report information before it has been published in newspapers or on TV. The ease in which this information is found is incredible, a simple google blog search, and you are able to read almost up to the minute information on just about any topic. This concept of reading news from blogs could quite possibly put magazines and even newspapers out of business. I believe the only media industry that may survive is radio, as I think it may be the only possible media organization that could get the news out as quickly as a blog. But upon searching my favorite radio station, I find that they even have blogs http://www.640toronto.com/ . I am an avid outdoors man and I enjoy hunting and fishing. I did a simple google blog search for hunting and came up with this web site http://www.blogcatalog.com/directory/sports/hunting , it is a directory of hunting web blogs. As I said earlier this web site with all the hunting blogs has prompted me to cancel most of my magazines subscriptions , the longer I surf the more likely I am to eventually cancel all of them. Although I am concerned that this type of thinking may have a negative impact on jobs, within the media industry, I feel my money is better in my pocket than in someone else's! The ease in which you can create a blog web page is amazing, the programs are so user friendly , that even my 67 year old mother thought it was interesting, she's going to try her hand at creating an online journal blog this week. http://www.blogger.com/ scores a 10 out of 10, it was very easy to use and just about anyone can become a professional blogger in no time at all.

TWITTER it is becoming quite popular. It was created by Jack Dorsey, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams, and began as a research and development project inside San Francisco podcasting company Odeo in March 2006( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitter Jan 25 2009 7 pm). From what I understand it is a basic way to keep contact with others in a short precise way, much like Facebook, and MySpace. In twitter you must post your comments in 140 characters or less it is a way for people to let other people know where they are and what they are doing or going to do. These messages are called tweets. Twitter is basically blogging in a smaller format "micro blogging" . I found while looking around the net that blogging for me is better, because it is a more complete information package than twitter. Twitter although short, it gains your attention and leads you to blogs . Twitter in this case acts like a opening sentence or thesis statement on a essay it grabs your attention Blogs will no doubt not suffer or fall to the way side due to twitter. Although twitter will be popular in certain social cultures it could never replace a blog. We as people will always thirst for more information than what can be found in a twitter. Doing my first blog has been an eventful assignment I have found many hunting, fishing and news associated blogs, that I am sure I will be back to visit regularly now. I have been converted I will continue to blog in twitter in future.
